Mothering Sunday
(14 Mar 2010)
Mothering Sunday
I cried out, kicking and screaming,
the tears kept rolling,
the tears kept streaming.
"Hush."
A voice called out,
so subtle, so soft.
It was without a doubt ...
my mother.

She was always there for me,
any time, any place;
she always tended my wounds;
she always wiped my tearful face.

Even growing up, when personality changes,
hormones kicking in
when mood swings ranges.
She stands by me
never, ever looking glum,
she puts on a smile.
She is always joyful and fun.

When the time comes to leave my home
my mother will be devastated.
Yet, she will not moan.
“These things happen,” she would say
“You’ve got to move on.”
She’ll put on a brave face, once I am gone.

I will always love my mum
and she will always love me,
but I don’t often get a chance to
thank her properly for all she has done,
caring for me, sheltering me,
keeping me safe,
teaching me, guiding me
at a steady pace.

Oh mum, today we celebrate
your special day.
Your hard work has been noticed
and I am glad to say on behalf of everyone ...
and to all the mothers
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!
